The challenge is to try and outdo other affiliates and think of ways to do a better job promoting. It’s also hard to figure out what to do because there’s a lot of information out there. Here’s one trick that almost no one else is using.

Affiliate videos

You can’t deny that video is powerful. Video online is everywhere because people love it. Keeping people’s attention is so much easier using videos. So using it in your affiliate promotions is a no-brainer!

Examples of how to use video for affiliate marketing:

  • Testimonials
  • Do a video walk-through
  • Record the order process
  • Do a preview video

Record your testimonial

It doesn’t get any easier than this. Just turn on your web cam and talk. It doesn’t have to be professional or polished. Just seeing another real person endorsing a product helps your viewers decide to buy. In truth, mistakes and mess-ups just make it more believable. You can literally just press record and talk. If you don’t want to be in front of the camera use one of the other methods.

Record a walk-through

Here’s an easy way to show the value of the product. You do a tour of the members area. You show them the entire contents of what they get. This one also helps to remove the skepticism. It’s much easier to trust they’re getting something if they actually seen it.

Email List Building Strategies

If you’re going to be successful in internet marketing, you need to build a list. It’s the number one key to opening the success floodgates. After it’s built, it’s yours to use any time you want. It’s a resource you can tap at any time and generate income.

How’s how to build a list:

Here are the three components of list building:

  • Your Opt-in Page
  • The Incentive
  • Your Confirmation Page

Your Opt-in Page – Your opt-in page is the page you send visitors to to build your list. It’s the page where you ask them for their email address. This page needs to look professional. And it needs to be simple to see how to opt in. And have a clear call to action.

If you fail to make a strong close, you’re wasting your efforts. This “close” tells your visitors what you want them to do. Without this your opt-in rate will plummet. It’s strange, but if you don’t tell people what to do, they won’t do it.

If you want to add some extra juice to your opt-in page add a video to it. This will grab your visitors attention and keep it. And you can repeat the call to action several times int he video. And you can have the video just tell them to fill in your form after it’s done playing.

If you don’t know how to make video, don’t worry. It’s very easy to hire people for a couple hundred bucks to make one for you. You can also find ready-made list building tools that include video squeeze pages.

The Incentive – Next, you’ve got to figure out what your bribe is. You have to give people a compelling reason to give your their email. Email privacy is very important to most people. So you have to give them a good reason to do it.

The key to a good bribe is that is has value. That means you make it something people would actually want to receive. And can benefit from. This can be:

  • A free report
  • Some useful software
  • Videos
  • An email series

You’ve got to create some great content. It’s got to be something helpful for your new subscribers. And of course it has to be free. Bottom line is it’s got to be worth more to them than their email address.

Once again, don’t worry if you don’t know how to create the freebie. Here again, you can hire freelancers to create this for you. You just pick the topic and they create the training. One easy and effective bribe is a 5-part email training series. Each email will cost between $20 and $25. So, you’ll get the whole series written for under $150.

Your Confirmation Page – The “thank you” page is the final piece of the puzzle. This is the page your subscriber sees after they opt in. It’s a great idea to give them some valuable information right on the thank you page. Then they feel good about giving you their email address. It also helps to build the relationship. The importance of preselling

The most important thing you can do to increase your affiliate commissions is to presell properly.

Before we start, let’s talk about what preselling actually is. Preselling is both an art and a science. It’s a process of taking your reader and getting them ready to buy. Then when they’re ready, refer them to the product website so they can buy it. And when it’s done correctly, they don’t know it’s happening.

In a nutshell, you provide value. And then refer them to the product website. In just a minute, I’ll explain exactly how to presell. First, it’s important to understand why we do it. Just a few of the reasons you want to presell.

  • It builds trust – Once you have your readers’ trust, they will click your links more readily. And the more traffic you can send to the sale page, the more commissions you’ll earn.
  • It disarms your reader – When you’re preselling vs. pitching, you’re reader doesn’t feel the need to be guarded. And in turn they read to understand what you’re saying. And your intention is conveyed more easily.
  • It preps them to buy – Your readers are now receiving your message. And in turn, they’re open to other messages, as well. For example, the sales message on the page you’re linking to. Sending them to the sales page in this state makes them more receptive to the actual pitch.
  • You make more money – They arrive at the product website prepped to buy. With the guard down and trusting your recommendation. The only possible result is more sales!
  • It boosts customer loyalty – Your referral now feels like they decided to buy. Instead of feeling pressured or “sold”. So they are happier with their purchase.
  • Preselling increases your bottom line – Happy customers ask for refunds much less often. Which means you keep more of your affiliate commissions.

Clearly preselling makes sense. You increase your profits. And increase your customer satisfaction. Everybody wins!

OK, so how do you do it?

OK, now you understand why it’s so important. And I hope you’re resolved to being preselling, too. So, let’s talk about how to make it work. Remember, there are two components – art and science.

Part 1 – The art of it

The first step is in getting your readers to trust you and open up. Honestly, the only way to do this is to provide real value in you content. Now, providing enough info to be useful, but still making them want more – that’s the art of it. The idea is that they want more and the sales page you send them to gives them more. And because you’ve gained trust, they’re more receptive to the sales message and more likely to buy.

The science component

There’s also a specific formula you need to follow.

One of these key elements is the presentation of the information. You have to have your end in mind. In the end, you want to sell a specific product. You use the information to do this in one of two ways. First, you can provide useful but incomplete information. Or you can give them so much information that it feels overwhelming to do what you’re talking about. Either way, the product sales page solves the problem.

But you can’t link to your affiliate link. Instead you link directly to the product sales page. This increases your clicks. But how will you earn affiliate commissions if you don’t use your affiliate link? This is all part of the science of preselling. You use the “covert cookie” strategy.

Next, you want to make sure you’re linking on related words and phrases. It’s habitual to click on words and phrases that are hyperlinked. Plus, if you link on relevant words, it only makes sense to click on there.

Putting all of this together creates a powerful affiliate marketing formula for success.

Now for the bad news…

It’s extremely difficult to do this correctly. Let’s talk about everything required to put this plan into action: Good content. First of all, you actually have to write great articles and give value to your readers. Which means you need to be both knowledgable on the subject and capable of writing a high-quality article. Strategic writing. First, you have to give good information. But, you also need to know how to present the information in a way that give value to the reader. And still leave them wanting more. Or provide so much information that they see how hard it will be to implement.

Choosing your products. Next, you’ve got to pick the right product to presell. If you can manage to get the article written well. All your efforts are wasted if you send your reader to the wrong sales letter.

Technical skills. To be most effective you have to use the “covert cookie” method. This is pretty easy – you just make a 1 pixel X 1 pixel image with no border and make the “source” of the image your affiliate link. (But if you mess it up, your referrals won’t be tracked.)

Summary:

Now you’re armed with the information needed to effectively presell. Using these techniques will increase your affiliate sales by 500% or more! The important thing is to use these techniques for everything you promote as an affiliate. Please don’t be lazy. Make the extra effort required to propel your affiliate business to the next level.

Step 1 – Find a Fanatical Market

The first step in developing a profitable membership business is to find a market with fanatics in it. What’s a fanatic? It’s someone who is so excited about a certain topic that they will spend their time and money on information about it. Now that we know what we’re looking for, let’s talk about how to find them…

  • Look at magazine racks. This is an often overlooked, yet extremely simple way to find niches that people are interested in. Because it’s becoming harder and harder to keep print periodicals profitable these days, if you see a magazine on the shelves, you know it’s making money. And that means there are lots of people interested in it. This is a very good indication that it’s a good niche for you to go into.
  • Watch and listen for fanatics in your daily life. Pay attention to conversations, social events, TV, restaurants, public places to see what people are talking about. People generally talk about things they are interested in. Which means you can start a membership business providing information on it.
  • Don’t forget about clubs and organizations. If there are enough people to to build a club, there are certainly enough people to start a membership site on the same topic. By the same token, if enough people are interested to hold a convention on a certain topic, you can definitely find enough people to build a membership business around that same topic.
  • And of course there are all the things you have an interest in, too! If you’re interested in something, it’s highly likely others are, too. Making money is fun and it’s even more fun if you can do it in a niche you’re excited about.
  • One simple and easy way to find out what’s hot is Google Trends. Google Trends tells you the most popular current search terms. The reason people are searching Google for info on these topics is because they are interested. And the fact that it’s made it into Google Trends tells you LOTS of people are interested. Hot topics that people are excited about make great niches for your membership website.

Next – Figure out if there’s money in it

OK, so you’ve got a great idea for your niche membership business with lots of fanatics. But will they actually spend money? The quickest way to find out is to determine if others are profiting in your potential niche.

Here’s a punch list for figuring out if anyone’s making money in your niche:

  • Are there blogs or forums in this niche? Take the name of your niche and search for “niche name blog” & “niche name forum” in Google to see if there is an active group of people talking about and interested in the niche. This lets you know there is a market (a group of people actively interested in the niche.)
  • See if other people are creating and selling product in this niche by searching in Google Shopping, ebay and Amazon. If other people are creating and selling products in this niche, it means there is money to be made.
  • Look at Google Adwords for the same ads are running over time. If people are running the same ad over time it means they are making money in the niche. They would not continue to spend money on the ads if there were not making a return from them.

Step 3 – Determine ease of entry

OK, so you found a hot topic and you know other people are making money on it. Will you be able to get involved and do the same? Here are some things to look at to figure this out:

  • Look at the product types in this niche. You want to find a niche where information products are being sold as the norm. That’s because it’s much easier to build a membership business around information vs. any other kind of product.
  • Competition. How many other people are trying to sell to this market? You want to start in a market that’s not completely saturated with competitors.
  • Unless the market is just so big that it doesn’t matter how many competitors there are, you want to limit the competition. So evaluate the size vs. the competition.
  • Market readiness. Are people ready to buy? Are the receptive to marketing messages? Depending on the market it can be anywhere from a couple minutes to a many months between when someone starts the investigation process to when they actually make a purchase.

Putting it all together

So far, we’ve talked about exactly what it takes to pick a great niche: One with a hungry crowd of fanatics, who are ready to spend money on information about their topic. And you’ve determined your barrier to entry is small enough to give it a go. Now that you’ve prepared properly, you’re success is 99% guaranteed. Let’s talk about some powerful ways to get free and automated traffic coming to your website.

Traffic is useless . . . unless…

The first thing you need to do before you start going after any traffic is keyword research. This is because you will building your traffic funnels around specific keywords. Which means you need to put some thought into the keywords you’re targeting.

Here are the important considerations for your research:

  • Are the keywords you’re interested in attainable? This involves doing some competitive analysis to determine the ease of entry for each keyword
  • What kinds of visitors do these keywords bring? Some keywords will bring lots of traffic, but none of them will buy. This is not what you’re looking for.
  • What about affiliates? If you want to build a huge business, you’re going to need affiliates to help you. So, it’s important to also target affiliates in the keywords you go after.

Of course, this all takes time if you plan to do it yourself. Experts are expensive and don’t guarantee results. Which is why practically none of your competitors will do this!
